Technical FAQ
Having difficulties posting your film?Email support at one80project.com.au for help... but remember to read this through properly first!
STEP 1 - MAKING YOUR PILOT
All pilots must be able to be broadcast on TV and on the big screen at the OPTUS ONE80PROJECT Festival, so need to be the highest quality possible.
Please shoot your pilot at PAL 4 : 3 (720 x 576 pixels) or Widescreen 16 : 9 (1024 x 576 pixels)
If your pilot is chosen in the Top 10, you will need to supply it as a Quicktime data file (8-bit Uncompressed) on DVD.
STEP 2 - ENTERING YOUR PILOT ONLINE
Once you have your pilot mastered up, you need to compress it and upload it via this web site.
The movie dimensions should be between 640 x 360 (if 16:9 ratio) or 480x360 (if 4:3 ratio) - NO BIGGER, or you upload will take a long time or will fail.
We recommend you export at 640 x 360 as this is the display size of the website (4:3 footage should be 480x360).
Video Compression: no more than 800kbps
Recommended Codec: FLV (the format used on the website) or H.264 (has the best compression for file size)
Audio Compression: no more than 128 kbps
Your file size should then be between 10Mb - 15Mb.

How Do I create MY JPG file to the required specification?
The JPG image will only be used as the the thumbnail preview users see in the entries overview page. You can either create your own poster style cover image or just grab a frame that you think best describes your story. If you do create a poster style image remember that the final thumbnail will be quite small. So if you are planning to use text make sure your font is large enough to be legible at the displayed size [138 x 100 pixels].
You can submit your image in any size as long as it is in the 4:3 aspect ratio. If it is not it may appear stretched as a thumbnail. Submitted JPG's will automatically be resized to the required size. Please try and keep the file size under 1Mb to make your upload faster and more reliable.
Most graphics and video editing programs can export JPG format through the "Save As" or "Export" functions.
